Estratégias de Coping de Discentes Brasileiros de Ciências Contábeis

Goal: Understanding the cognitive and behavioral elements in the socio-academic environment is an emerging research agenda in the field of accounting education. From this incentive, the article seeks to identify the association between coping strategies adopted by Brazilian accounting students.
Method: The sample represents 311 accounting students from Higher Education Institutions located in South Brazil. The data collected through a survey were treated using Spearman correlation.
Results: Coping strategies, represented by behavioral actions in response to stress, emotional exhaustion and pressure, adopted by accounting students in Brazil are associated and lead to desirable and undesirable behavior in the socio-academic environment.
Contribution: The university need to integrate the processes related to coping strategies in the socio-academic environment through policies of attention and support to students, since it is linked to academic development and the experiences that students will trigger during their stay in higher education. This study contributes to the promotion of the theme with educational institutions, because higher education presents itself as a true arena of the game, in which all actors have responsibilities.
